The TexPat has neglected the TexPatch for a while … for good reason.
In the year and a half since the last TexPatch, the TexPat has been deep “In the Heart of Texas“… (the novel). The book tour and generous press, reviews, interviews, and invitations to speak and read across the country have been nothing short of amazing, and a true blessing.
The TexPat even appeared on TV (with her late mom) for Dallas-Fort Worth’s NBC 5, and wrote an article for Essence that led to an NPR radio interview on Beyonce and feminism (link to come). Having talented Texans like Debbie Allen and Tina Knowles (Mrs. Beyonce’s mom!) attend an LA book event, speaking at Harvard and Georgetown, signing at the Texas Book Festival, and being invited to read at the annual Martha’s Vineyard Literary Lunch with Pulitzer Prize winner Annette Gordon-Reed, National Book Award nominee Erica Armstrong Dunbar, and noted British poet Lucinda Roy were incredible experiences for which she is forever thankful and thrilled.
So the TexPat is touring, talking, writing articles and teaching, while writing her next novel, Oak Cliff. Past TexPatches show, if nothing else, that there’s no place like her Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas home.
