About the TexPatch

DSC01287The TexPatch is the creation of Ginger McKnight-Chavers, a Texpatriate and native of Dallas, Texas, who has lived in the Northeastern U.S. for many years.  A Harvard-trained attorney and writer, and former Gurfein Writing Fellow at Sarah Lawrence College, McKnight-Chavers has never left behind or forgotten her deep, multi-generational Texan roots.  The TexPatch was created as a conversation between Texans and non-Texans on life, art, culture, politics, style, humor and the human experience.  McKnight-Chavers’ short story “The Maslins,”  appeared in “Oil and Water: and Other Things That Don’t Mix,” a collection of short stories and essays by female authors from the Gulf Coast region, available at www.amazon.com.  Her first novel, “In the Heart of Texas” was released on October 25, 2016 by She Writes Press and has won the 2016 Best Book Award in the category of Fiction: African American. McKnight-Chavers also blogs for the Huffington Post and writes for ShareBlue.
